Serves

Ingredients

Bread Pudding

  • 6 cups day-old bread, cubed (brioche, challah, or rustic sourdough)
  • ¾ cup fig & apple Pair-N-Dipity
  • 2 cups whole milk (or 1½ cups milk + ½ cup cream or a milk alternative of choice)
  • 3 large eggs
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp melted butter (plus more for greasing)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1½ tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg
  • ¼ tsp salt

Optional Add-Ins

  • ¼ cup chopped walnuts or pecans
  • ¼ cup dried figs or raisins
  • Zest of ½ orange or lemon

To Finish

  • Powdered sugar, maple syrup, or warm cream
  • Optional dollop of Greek yogurt or mascarpone

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Butter an 8×8-inch baking dish.
  2. Fill dish with bread cubes, spreading evenly.
  3. Warm the fig & apple spread slightly (microwave or stovetop) until loosened. Spoon dollops evenly over the bread.
  4. Whisk milk, eggs, brown sugar, butter, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  5. Pour custard over bread. Press gently so everything absorbs.
  6. Scatter add-ins if using.
  7. Rest 15–30 minutes for a custard-like interior (optional but recommended).
  8. Bake uncovered for 40–45 minutes, until puffed, set in the center, and golden on top.
  9. Cool slightly, then dust or drizzle to serve.
